In Of Bees and Mist, author Erick Setiawan creates a world where people's emotions physically affect those around them. It is the both sad and hopeful story of Meridia, who grows up in a home where the temperature is literally freezing from the coldness of her parents relationship. She finally escapes this life upon falling in love with Daniel, but finds herself locked in a rivalry with his mother in law, Eva, whose nagging manifests as a swarm of bees.

I was fortunate to be able to read this book as part of the B&N First Look program. The style does take some getting used to, but I was soon lost in the book's world and loved every bit of it. I look forward to more fantastic stories from the author.
